Our Juror and Fall Workshop Artist, Linda Frayne Kemp, selected 62 paintings from the 137 paintings submitted by 73 NFWS Members. Awards were presented at our Awards Reception on Sunday, October 22, 2017. These Awards Celebrations are always exciting! We had a full house of members, family, friends and water media enthusiasts. It was an inspirational afternoon full of appreciation, good wishes, and good food!

On Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 2 pm until 4 pm, NFWS and the Kenan Center hosted the second in a series of Artists’ Talks, moderated by Sally Treanor, our President, and Mike Killelea, our Program Chair. Six of our NFWS Member/Artists  shared their enthusiasm for watercolor, their inspiration and their approach.

The artists, whose paintings are included in the exhibition, were  Roberta Bolt, Kateri Ewing, Kathleen Giles, Mary Ellen Hanna, Sallye Keith, and Catherine O’Neill.

Here are the winners of the awards that were presented by Sally Treanor at our Awards Reception. Congratulations to all the artists. Our Juror and Judge, Linda Frayne Kemp, was very pleased to be able to select 12 award winners, including 5 Judge’s Choice Awards. She wished she could have selected a few more, and could have spoken to each of the artists in the exhibition. Her words, which were shared with all the artists who submitted paintings, about the jurying process and what she looks for when selecting paintings for an exhibition, are attached for your reading. She is truly a remarkable person, and a terrific artist and teacher.
