Our November demonstration will be by our NFWS Signature Member, artist and beloved teacher, Joan Hambleton. Joan works in a variety of styles in transparent watercolor and aqua media. She calls her work impressionistic plein air. She describes herself this way:
“As an artist, I like painting the things I see around me. Studying the play of light against the background and the various changes in color and value are exciting personal experiences for me. I have been recognized in Western New York for my watercolors and acrylics and am constantly exploring new modes of expression.Much of my work begins outdoors with either transparent watercolors or acrylics. Along with some sketches and photographs, I return to my studio to complete my paintings. By working this way, I hope to respond to my environment and capture the spirit of the day. Once in the studio, I continue to work with both watercolors and acrylics in combination. This gives me a sense of freedom and adds a new dimension to my work. .My work is done on untreated paper and is still considered aqua-media.”
The meeting and demo begin at 7 pm and last til 9 pm.
Join us as we enjoy the company of painters and art lovers.
