NFWS Fall and Winter 2020 Events are canceled, but the Fall Members Exhibition is going forward with inspired energy!

The Executive Committee of the Board of NFWS has decided to cancel face-to-face demonstrations, at least until January 2021. This includes the demonstration by Sarah Yeoman, our October workshop artist. Our primary concern is the health and welfare of our membership. We know that many of you not only enjoy and are inspired by our wonderful monthly demonstrations, but also look forward to the opportunity to socialize with your friends and colleagues in the watercolor community. Since this fellowship and the ability to enjoy our delicious mid-demo food would not be possible as normal, it was decided to cancel the demos. However, we are researching ways we could possibly provide demos on You-Tube, our facebook page and through our NFWS website.

The Fall Workshop with Sarah Yeoman is going ahead. Registration materials can be accessed here. It will be an online Zoom Workshop from October 10 – 12, 2020.

The submission period for the Fall 2020 Members Watermedia Exhibition ended August 31, 2020. The exhibition will be both in person at the Carnegie Art Center, and online on our NFWS website.

Thank you for being members of NFWS and for entering our shows and supporting our members, and our mission – to promote interest in and education about transparent watercolor.

Make art and stay safe!

Spring 2020 Members Online Exhibition of Transparent Watercolor

The Thursday, March 19th Board of Directors Meeting and the Members Meeting and Artists Demonstration are CANCELED!

In consideration of many factors, we will not be meeting on Thursday, March 19, for our Members’ Meeting and Artist Demonstration. As responsible citizens and as guardians of our own health and that of others, we will conform to all governmental requests to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
Our invited guest artist, Chris Leeper, had been queried earlier by our program director, Michael Killelea, about the possibility and he was agreeable dependent upon our decision. We hope to bring him at some future time.We will be watching closely to be able to give earlier notice regarding the April meeting and the May workshop and meeting. Again, the appropriate chairpeople have already contacted those artists about the possibility of cancelation. Our Spring 2020 Members Exhibition of Transparent Watercolor has not been canceled. We are working with Don Siuta and the Artists Group Gallery daily to determine if any modifications to the scheduled reception will have to be made.  THE SHOW MUST GO ON! Your framed artwork is to be delivered on Saturday, April 18th.

I got home on Friday and am better but still using a cane and gimping around. I had hoped to see you all this week after being away for three months. I so appreciated the notes, messages, emails and cards that came. You kept my spirits up. Though we won’t be together, know that you are in my heart and thoughts. Be careful and take care of yourselves. Be well.

Honored to be your President,
Sally Treanor
